November is the Abstract and Surreal photography gallery month here at CRPhotography, and to honor that, some of DeviantART's Community Volunteers have selected photographs from the Abstract and Surreal galleries, and left a few comments about them. We hope you enjoy!

KovoWolf's selections:

the city lights by vanerich
The City Lights by vanerich is an abstract piece that tells more then just a story. Clouded yet clear is the horizon. The beautiful bokeh effects really bring out the detail in all the lights in this piece. I love the effect of the water and how it blurrs all in the right spots.

Ink Sea by ahermin
Ink Sea by ahermin is one of those pieces you can't help but admire for it's simplicity and message. A powerful message at that. I absolutely love the feel and tones of this piece, the colors really set the mood. It makes you wonder just how close you can be to something really big.

Fair and Square by Cataclysm-X
Fair and Square by Cataclysm-X did a wonderful job of using colors and unique angles to achieve this one of a kind piece! I absolutely love the motion of this photo!

Illusions No 4 by c00lpix
Illusions No 4 uses a brilliant array of technique and lighting! c00lpix did an amazing job with this beautiful piece! I love the symmetry!

AbbeyMarie's selection:

My love for this lies in it's simplicity yet incredibly effectiveness. It provokes a very specific feeling without being "in your face", which allows me to think up possible dark backstories to go with the photo myself.

TehAngelsCry's selection:

Different shades of the same grey by iNeedChemicalX
This piece is both calming and unnerving to me.. It almost looks like there's a dirt road at the bottom of the picture, which alludes to the idea that the person is dead and we're seeing their ghost. Truly chilling.

tinycasket's selection:

no perspective by crh

The choice of black and white compliments the fantastic composition and symmetry of this brilliant shot.

inknalcohol's selections:

Like the title says, it looks like bones, but upon closer inspection, it's really leaves. It's an illusion that works well, and is stunning as it truly does look like the ancient remains of some beast.

I know this one is just a trick of glass, but it's amazing to me how much it looks like an eye. And that means that the artist had to hunt for just the right spot, with the perfect lighting and proper angle. All of that requires skill and this is exceptionally done in that.

Darkest Times by ravador
It's hard to tell if the butterflies are flying into the dress or out of it. Either way, it's a stunning capture. Even the background carries the "darkest times" feel with its dying leaves and browning grass.

don't lick that night by ruiManuelR
It's simplicity is what does it for me. But I really love how the dark city is illuminated by the cat.

s t r a n g e r by silvia-giuli
Makes you wonder if she's super tiny or those cups are super huge. Either way, it's gorgeous and the two photos are merged seamlessly that it looks completely natural.

3wyl's selections:

the reflectionists by EintoeRn
EintoeRn brilliantly frames the reflectionists in square form. I really like the shapes and the contrast in colours that emphasise the abstract nature of this piece.

ripples riddles by m-lucia

Similar to EintoeRn's piece, ripples riddles by m-lucia is a beautiful photograph of what abstract really means. There is something fascinating regarding the concept within this piece.. something more than what meets the eye.

irreversibility by KISSMYBLOOD11
The forces captured are strongly conveyed here in the contrast between dark and light, the action and the masks which all stress the surrealism within irreversibility by LevAni11.

Kaz-D's selections:

Under The Ice by WTek79
The shapes and smooth colour captured here create such a wonderful example of abstract work. WTek79 has a strong gallery full of talent.

Parangtritis Beach - Jogjakarta by Hengki24
Hengki has always astounded me with his works, and this is no exception. Tilt shift technique meets surrealism in this capture!

This piece proves that with a closer look something can become so much more than it initially appeared to be. This series is one to check out!

Mrs-Durden's selections:

the last glow by augenweide

the last glow by augenweide makes use of light and color superbly, I love the odd angle and crisp focus.

.:Broken Sunset:. by DanCrystalis

Broken Sunset by DanCrystalis makes great use of texture in this beautiful and obscure sunset shot, I love the lines that draw the viewer's eyes to all sides of the photograph.

justanothersomeone's selections:

Break Fast by Sei-Zako
Minimalism has a strong punch in this impactful photograph. Break Fast by Sei-Zako

forest light II by BaxiaArt
A cathedral in the woods. forest light II by BaxiaArt

Just because you're forgotten by Catosan
Just because you're forgotten by Catosan is a fantastic play on scale, seamlessly splicing together a macro photograph with portraiture. A macrocosm in a microcosm is created.

I am a little confused. This is a beautiful feature but some of the pieces I would consider to be photomanipulations since they involve merging 2 or more images together. If there is an article, clarifying that line I would be happy.
