With the amount of people jumping in on this new "Voyage to the unknown" project, I wanted to create a master journal where I will collect all of the journals that have been put together following my initial post! This journal serves the purpose of explaining the project, and collecting everyone's journals, so feel free to include it in your new "voyage to the unknown" collections, and please leave a comment with a link to your awesome journals so I can feature them here! :la:

The concept:

The idea is to browse through 1 category or sub-category that you don't necessarily visit frequently, or that you browse the least, and collect some of the art you find stands out! The point of this is to challenge ourselves and discover new art in the process! I'll personally be tagging people in each issue to follow suit and do their own, however, don't feel obligated to respond to the tag. I just want everyone to know I'd love to see them do their own spin of this feature :) (Smile) Feel free to tag people when you do yours as well!

Please don't tag people and tell them which gallery they should go browse. This is not what the purpose of this project is. Every participant and every person tagged is simply encouraged to go and find a gallery or subgallery of their choice that they do not browse often, to feature artwork from. Please also don't just pick a "theme" and feature art from all sorts of different galleries, while that is a lovely thing to do, it isn't what this project aims to do :)

Tips and tricks:

Browsing through popular and undiscovered are of course your first and easiest options. However, browsing from most popular in the past week or month, and then clicking on the groups that the artwork you find are featured in can be helpful! For my first issue, I found a few cartoons and comics groups that had a lot of stuff I really liked! It made it easier for me to find great work that clicked with my personal taste!

Use the tag #TheVoyage as well so we can find your journals!

The results:

Slowly but surely many have expressed interest in joining in! If you've posted your own "voyage to the unknown" please leave a comment here so I can add you to this collection! The great thing is that this isn't a one time deal, you can do as many features as you want. I plan on continuing, so I hope you all will as well! :eager:

This is pretty much a response to the tagging by Mrs-Durden and her Challenge to discover new art that you usually don't give that much attention. Which really is a shame! Because you can find some very nice deviations in pretty much all categories.

I chose this sub-category because I envy the creators of these masterpieces.
I always wanted to draw, but never could make it happen.
With lots of effort, I can draw a stick figure and it still comes out crooked and ridiculous.
Some drawings and paintings are so realistic it looks as if it is a photo instead.

---I am going to choose People and Portraits for my journal piece and am going to narrow it down a bit further to a "beards" collection. November was "no-shave" month and I am quite fond of beards anyway ;) People and Portraits is a category I don't usually visit, nor do I even really shoot myself as a hobbyist-photographer, so this was fun to do. I hope you all enjoy!

But to sum this up, the point of this was to browse a section of deviantart you wouldn't normally go to, and post the best things you've found. I think this is a really cool idea, and you can even wind up finding some awesome artists you wouldn't have discovered otherwise, and get inspired :D
Anyway, I decided to explore the Digital art > 3-dimensional art > Abstract section, because I have never been there before. I'll admit some of what I saw was just not my taste (although was still technically good) but once I explored a bit more I found some really cool stuff! Here's some of my favorites I discovered:

I wandered over to Digital Art > Photomanipulation > Dark and found some incredibly interesting works! So I decided a feature was in order. :D
For the purposes of this feature, only works wherein the artists have listed the stocks used are included. There are a lot of really intriguing works in this section of the site that are nice to look at; unfortunately, many of the individuals who post them don't credit the stocks used. :(
I do hope you enjoy the feature! If you find a piece you like, please let the artist know by leaving them a :+fav:, a comment, or even a :+devwatch:! :la:

I so enjoyed composing the previous feature, that I've decided to continue with this, and I might revisit some of the galleries again in the future. For this feature, I decided to mostly restrict myself to recent submissions to the Photography > Architecture > Details gallery.

I decided to go through the Traditional>Bodyart>Bodymods>Tattoo Gallery because I really do like tattoos even though I have none myself (probably will soon).  Also, because this part of the site doesn't get as much attention as it should. Voyage to the Unknown: Paper CraftsHey everyone, I got tagged by danny-mechanist to be a part of Mrs-Durden 's art challenge into venturing into unexplored categories. Personally, I haven't explored much other than drawn art, so
I was quite pleased and surprised to be tagged to go through the Artisan Craft> Folding and Paper Craft section of DA (which I did not know existed- silly me). You can read more up in this journal entry for more details: Voyage to the unknown: Master Journal .

So without a moment to lose, here are some artworks that I've fave'd. Not only because they stood out, but because they look impressive. I've done some paper crafts before, and believe me, it's not easy.

This one looks incredibly well done. I like how they're able to get the pose of Spiderman in it- all done through paper.

Is it hard to believe this is a paper model? Believe me, those thre

Let's do this! :eager:

Voyage to the Unknown: SculpturesThanks to my contact phydeau for introducing me to this. I searched under the sculpture section of traditional art, just because it's a category that I don't regularly search. Here's my selection of good pieces that I found:

I do hope that you enjoy this feature!

The project has been going on for a month, so it's time I take part too. :iconjuap:
I won't tag anybody, but I'd really appreciate if you could do something similar. Time spent in features is always well spent. :D

Fractals: That gallery I visit whenever someone tags me to visit a gallery that I don't really know  I love fractals, try to make some, but really don't get how they're made. Like how someone has a certain image in their mind and can actually make a Fractal that looks like that is beyond me. So let's celebrate some beautiful Fractals

As everyone can see, I have decided to participate in the wonderful project of features that started Mrs-Durden, Community Volunteer on DA =D. Any member of the community can participate freely and dynamics is very simple: You must choose a gallery that you not visit with much frequent, browse through of her and select the pieces of art that are of interest for you, to those that you consider outstanding =D . You can find more information about the activity in the Master Journal, below. I invite you to participate if you want, it's fun ^^. And you have the opportunity to find art you have not seen before and meet many talented artists :dummy:.

As sad as it is for me to admit this, I haven't ventured frequently into this section. My trips to cartoons and comics have been rare, and I admit fault with respect to that. If you're at all familiar with my snippets of X-Men fan fiction, you'll understand why I find that to be a sorrowful note in my DA experience.
So, in order to remedy that, I'm going to venture there for this feature and share with you some of the wonderful art I found there!
But, Rogue, you just posted a Voyage feature! Yes, I did! This one is early (and replaces the one that would have posted this coming Sunday) because

Voyage to the Unknown: Fashion PortraitsI was tagged by the divine Astralseed, in turn tagged by the mysterious Mrs-Durden in her quest to get people out of their comfort zones and get them looking at truly inspirational art that they wouldn't normally browse.
I like to think that I'm pretty varied in my tastes; I have favourites from all over (less now that the daily deviations have moved/gone/whatever happened to them). So finding a category that I hadn't really looked at was quite tricky. I settled on Fashion Portraits for this journal and I may do a few more in time~
Here's the Voyage to the unknown: Master Journal for you to find other gorgeous features!
And without further ado, here are my picks:

Voyage to the Unknown: ScratchboardThis is my second journal using Mrs-Durden's journey theme. I've chosen for this journey to head into Traditional Art, to the Scratchboard sub section of the site. I've seen a few pieces from this section that were simply marvelous, but it's not somewhere I journey regularly. That said, I hope you enjoy the selection!
As always, please give the artists some love!

Voyage to the Unknown: Manga and AnimeI was tagged in Mrs-Durden's latest feature, Voyage to the Unknown. It is a great project which is basically encouraging people to step out of their comfort zone and check out categories they don't really browse through on DeviantArt or know little about. This way you can discover amazingly talented deviants who would remain in the shadown if you did not check their works out.
If you'd like to know more about this project, head over here :pointr: Voyage to the unknown: Master Journal
Manga & Anime

I used to be a mange and anime fan, during my secondary school years (which was 4 years ago now :noes:) I would spend a lot of time glued in front of my desktop, watching animes and reading mangas for hours. I still like them, I just don't have that much time - well I do, but now I watch television series instead :lmao: -

What is "Voyage to the Unknown"?
"Voyage to the Unknown" is a lovely feature centered around galleries that people don't normally look much into.
Did you start this?
No; give the full credit to Mrs-Durden instead! :giggle:
Why anthro?
I don't look into that category much. But hey, it needs love and care too! :eager:
Irony alert: You have a gallery full of copyrighted anthropomorphic characters
Thank you for that! But I am always looking into the fan art category, so that doesn't count! :no
Now let me see who tagged you. :eyes:

Tell that to Felizias. She did it.

I don't think I've ever really looked into "Motion Books", and it's a shame, I think, because DA did collaborate with MadefireStudios to set that up for our use.

So here you will find several pieces from the Motion Books section that I hope you will enjoy!
