DD Guidelines

Photobucket

I'm a General Photography CV!

  • I only take suggestions from these sub-galleries (this is subject to change): Animals, Plants, and Nature, Commercial (excluding Fashion), Conceptual, Darkroom, Fireworks, Humorous, Other, People & Portraits (Classic Portraits, Emotive Portraits, Expressive, Infants and Children, Miscellaneous, Self-Portraits, Spontaneous Portraits, Weddings), Still Life, Street, Transportation, and Urban and Rural. I cannot feature anything else.

  • Make sure that the deviant hasn't already received a Daily Deviation within the past 6 months. FAQ #313: How can I find out if someone already has a Daily Deviation?

  • Send your suggestions to only ONE Community Volunteer!

  • For more info, see my guidelines journal please.

Daily Deviation Guidelines - General PhotographyAs of today I will be covering the General Photography gallery alongside 3wyl and Kaz-D. This means I will no longer be looking after Art Nude and Fashion. Please take a second to look over my guidelines before you suggest a piece as a Daily Deviation :)

If I decline your suggestion and deem either of them might decide to feature it, I will forward it to them, so it will have been considered by all three of us.To suggest a daily deviation, please send me a note ti

How to suggest

Just hit the "Note" button on my profile page and add the subject: DD Suggestion include the thumbnail along with the reason you think the piece deserves a Daily Deviation.
Self suggestions are welcome!

I may not reply to all suggestions but I do read, consider and appreciate every suggestion .

I usually won't give a DD to a photo that is older than a deviant's previous DD(s). What do you think about this?

60%
38 deviants said I don't think that's good. If an older photo is better than a newer one, you should DD it, even if they previously received a DD on something newer.
33%
21 deviants said I think that's a good personal rule! That way you can focus more on an artist's recent art.

4 deviants said Other: Feedback please, I'm just curious :D

Forum Features #55 - April: Fruit!Once again, the Community Relations team is here to feature the artworks of DeviantArt's beloved forumers! AND feature a member of the forum community!La la la la
Once a month, we select one active member from the forums and we feature his or her gallery. This is someone we believe represents the forums well with both good forum-abilities and art. We are now taking quotes and doing mini-interviews with the community about each month's selected forumer, in order to further bring the community together!
As we're kind (and awesome), we also decided to give an opportunity for everybody to get featured! Every month, we create a thread in the Deviation Thumbshare Forum with a particular theme. This thread is made into a sticky for easy access. All you have to do is post thumbs of your artwork that match the theme and, at the end of the month, we select our favorite thumbs from that thread and fea

Voyage to the unknown: Cartoons and ComicsI'm starting a new feature in which I will browse through a category or sub-category I don't necessarily browse frequently, or the ones I browse the least, and collect some of the art I find stands out! The point of this is to challenge myself and discover new art in the process! I'll also be tagging people in each issue to follow suit and do their own, however, don't feel obligated to respond to the tag. I just want everyone to know I'd love to see them do their own spin of this feature :)
Cartoons and Comics
A drawing or sequence of drawings; typically non-realistic or semi-realistic, representing characters and scenes usually intended for satire, caricature or humor.

Fashion Makes the World go Round XWelcome to a feature that includes a selection of pieces from the Fashion photography galleries, Fashion-themed news and contests, a Fashion artist of the week, and some more fun stuff!

Project Educate - Dates and Information!Calendar and Info!
projecteducate was founded seven years ago by Moonbeam13 and since then has been a project run by the Community Volunteer team. The group is aimed at providing educational information for artists who want to learn about all sorts of art genres or who want to contribute their own knowledge for others to read about.
Weeks are usually allocated in seven day blocks unless there is a lot to cover and for general weeks a Community Volunteer will take the lead and bring you seven days of awesome in the form of articles, features, chat events, interviews and maybe even a contest or two. The volunteer will share their knowledge about the gallery that they oversee on DeviantArt or if they are a Chat & Forums volunteer they will give you insight into how things work over there. But now we have more and more involvement from the Community and we have themed weeks, which give anyone the chance to participate!
To participate in any of the below Themed Weeks or any of
Photography Debates: DSLR vs. Bridge CamerasWelcome to a series of Photography Debate journals, in which a debate or question will be posed, and as members you can debate among each other which side you are on. This month's debate is:
DSLR vs. Bridge/Ultrazoom* Cameras
So tell us, which option is best? For which use?
What are the pros and cons of both options?
*you may discuss other alternative cameras to DSLRs as well.
This series is all about having a healthy debate over photography-related topics, so please feel encouraged to leave a comment here with which side you're on, respond to the comments other members leave here, and debate with each other in a polite manner. Have fun with it!
Last Month's Debate:
Last month the debate was "Flash vs Natural light" and there was a wide preference for natural light!
With regards to the overall debate:

Dear Lady Durden, I'm a bit late with thanking you for your generous approach to my work; and turning it into a DD, no less! This came out of left field, and had me quite flabbergasted, to use some kind of old-fashioned term. And I'm actually not really deserving that honor, that's what I believe. I'm not trying to be modest here, and faking humbleness. It's just that I see so many awesome works here at dA; works I feel I cannot compete with.

Still, the unexpected attention feels good, of course, and it forces me to communicate, something which is not an everyday strength of mine.

I had some inspiring comments in the meantime, comments good enough to trigger my own ideas or resort to a cheap joke, all the while with a smile on my face. :-)

So, thank you again, albeit I feel a bit awkward about the whole thing. Truly it came as a surprise, and the first thing I did was shutting the computer down and walk away. Because, as I stated above, there are so many artists here truly deserving that kind of attention that I found it difficult to accept that sudden spotlight.

Anyway, enough of all these words that will never be good enough to explain things in the depth they actually require - and deserve.

What remains is this:   :flowerpot: - all for you, of course, Nina!
