General Photography Daily Deviations

General Photography Daily Deviations I've featured in my time as a CV. To see the Fashion and Art Nude Daily Deviations I featured in my time covering those galleries, go to my favourites page :)

DD Guidelines

Photobucket

I'm a General Photography CV!

  • I only take suggestions from these sub-galleries (this is subject to change): Abstract and Surreal, Architecture, Commercial (excluding Fashion), Conceptual, Darkroom, Fireworks, Humorous, Infrared, Other, People & Portraits (Body Art, Classic Portraits, Emotive Portraits, Expressive, Infants and Children, Other, Self-Portraits, Spontaneous Portraits, Weddings), Still Life, Street, Transportation, and Urban and Rural. I cannot feature anything else.

  • Make sure that the deviant hasn't already received a Daily Deviation within the past 6 months. FAQ #313: How can I find out if someone already has a Daily Deviation?

  • Send your suggestions to only ONE Community Volunteer!

  • For more info, see my guidelines journal please.

Daily Deviation Guidelines - General PhotographyAs of today I will be covering the General Photography gallery alongside Kaz-D. This means I will no longer be looking after Art Nude and Fashion. Please take a second to look over my guidelines before you suggest a piece as a Daily Deviation :)
I can only take suggestions from these sub-galleries (this is subject to change): Commercial (excluding Fashion), Conceptual, Darkroom, Fireworks, Humorous, Other, People & Portraits (Classic Portraits, Emotive Portraits, Expressive, Infants and Children, Miscellaneous, Self-Portraits, Spontaneous Portraits, Weddings), Still Life, Street, Transportation, and Urban and Rural. You may suggest to Kaz-D, or myself, but please do not suggest the same piece to both of us. If I decline your suggestion and deem she might decide to feature it, I will forward it to her, so it will have been considered by all three of us.To suggest a daily deviation, please send me a note titled "Daily Deviation Suggestion" or something along those line

How to suggest

Just hit the "Note" button on my profile page and add the subject: DD Suggestion include the thumbnail along with the reason you think the piece deserves a Daily Deviation.
Self suggestions are welcome!

I may not reply to all suggestions but I do read, consider and appreciate every suggestion .

Highlights of Recent Community News!

Check out what's been going on:

Photography Debates: WatermarksWelcome to a series of Photography Debate journals, in which a debate or question will be posed, and as members you can debate among each other which side you are on. This month's debate is:
Watermarks
So tell us, are they necessary? Do they take away from a photograph? Do they truly make a difference in terms of art theft? What are your general thoughts?

This series is all about having a healthy debate over photography-related topics, so please feel encouraged to leave a comment here with which side you're on, respond to the comments other members leave here, and debate with each other in a polite manner. Have fun with it!
Last Month's Debate:
Last month the debate was about Photoshop vs. Lightroom and other similar software. We received a wide range of advocates for both options (as well as others such as Picasa) and great explanations as to why one might be better than the other.

Forum Features #57: Hope!Once again, the Community Relations team is here to feature the artworks of DeviantArt's beloved forumers! AND feature a member of the forum community!La la la la
Once a month, we select one active member from the forums and we feature his or her gallery. This is someone we believe represents the forums well with both good forum-abilities and art. We are now taking quotes and doing mini-interviews with the community about each month's selected forumer, in order to further bring the community together!
As we're kind (and awesome), we also decided to give an opportunity for everybody to get featured! Every month, we create a thread in the Deviation Thumbshare Forum with a particular theme. This thread is made into a sticky for easy access. All you have to do is post thumbs of your artwork that match the theme and, at the end of the month, we select our favorite thumbs from that thread and fea
Fashion Makes the World go Round XIIWelcome to a feature that includes a selection of pieces from the Fashion photography galleries, Fashion-themed news and contests, a Fashion artist of the month, and some more fun stuff!

Photography Suggestions Spotlight IVAs a General Photography CV I receive a large amount of suggestions, and unfortunately not everything can be featured as a Daily Deviation. However, everything that doesn't become a DD can be featured here in an awesome journal! I am a dummy! Here are some of the suggestions I've received, I'll keep doing these as a series as long as needed Heart

Photography Interviews: Urban and RuralWelcome to an interview of the amazingly talented Urban & Rural photographers: Deere and burningmonk. We hope you will enjoy the insight this interview might provide you on U/R, and each of their personal experiences and views.
1) Could you please introduce yourself briefly, and tell us a little bit about your experience with Urban & Rural photography?
burningmonk:
My name is Lukasz Kazimierz Palka and I have been living in Tokyo, Japan since 2008. I got into photography as a way to get out of the house. After about 1 year in Japan, I found myself becoming a bit of a couch potato. Photography was an avenue for me to explore the city.
Deere:
I’m Mike Deere, an award winning professional photographer from the UK. I first picked up a camera about 12 years ago now, and while during that time the nature of my work has varied quite broadly I’ve always had an underlying thing for both landscapes and the urban environment. I’m particularly inte
Photography Debates: Photoshop vs LightroomWelcome to a series of Photography Debate journals, in which a debate or question will be posed, and as members you can debate among each other which side you are on. This month's debate is:
Photoshop vs Lightroom*

So tell us, which one is better? What are the differences?
*Feel free to also debate Photoshop vs other software such as GIMP.
This series is all about having a healthy debate over photography-related topics, so please feel encouraged to leave a comment here with which side you're on, respond to the comments other members leave here, and debate with each other in a polite manner. Have fun with it!
Last Month's Debate:
Last month the debate was about cellphone photography, whether it was art, and whether it would replace DSLRs, and there were some very interesting arguments!

Voyage to the Unknown: Fan ArtI've started a new feature in which I will browse through a category or sub-category I don't necessarily browse frequently, or the ones I browse the least, and collect some of the art I find stands out! The point of this is to challenge myself and discover new art in the process! I'll also be tagging people in each issue to follow suit and do their own, however, don't feel obligated to respond to the tag. I just want everyone to know I'd love to see them do their own spin of this feature :) (Smile)
Please visit the Master Journal for more information about this project, and to leave a link to yours if you end up doing one of your own! Voyage to the unknown: Master Journal and use the tag #TheVoyage in your journal!
